The typical tradeoff weight for sandwich paper is in the range of 18 to 40 GSM with applications depending on the type of items being wrapped.

For single sandwiches, lighter sheets, say 18-22 GSM are suitable. Standard wrapping rates are in the 25 to 30 GSM range, as well as being easy to fold, while foods that are heavier such as burgers value a heavier wrapping rate at 35 to 40 GSM so that they are more tear-resistant.
